PLEASE READ:  We no longer provide legal consultations related to residential mortgages, defaults, foreclosures, short sales, or related topics.  If you have questions in these areas, we ask that you contact a debtor/creditor/bankruptcy attorney or contact the State Bar for a referral to such an attorney.  Those with cases involving mortgage fraud, predatory lending, or similar activities are encouraged to contact either a consumer fraud attorney, the Arizona Attorney General, or the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions.

Q: How do I make an appointment for a consultation?

To schedule an initial consultation, either e-mail or call us at (602) 678-2970.  E-mail is preferred.  While we cannot provide specific legal advice by e-mail or over the phone, a simple e-mail or phone call can allow us to determine if we can even assist you and whether an actual meeting with us would be worthwhile.  Your time and our time is valuable, and we will not recommend a consultation if we do not think we can be of service.

Q: Does the firm charge for an initial consultation?  

Our initial consultation fee is $150 for a half hour (30 minute) consultation and $200 for a full hour (60 minute) consultation (or consultations involving any document review less than 20 pages), with a half-hour minimum.  The initial consultation fee will be credited back to you if you decide to hire our firm (and your case is accepted).

Q: Does the firm offer Senior or Military discounts?  

Yes. Senior citizens (aged 60 and older) and members of the U.S. military (Active or Retired) receive 50% off of our regular one-hour initial consultation fee and 25% off of our regular hourly rates or flat fee services.  

Q: Can I do an initial consultation by telephone?  

Initial consultations are available by telephone for those who reside or work outside of the Phoenix metro area or are located out-of-state.  Advance payment of the initial consultation fee is required before the scheduled consultation.  In order to schedule a telephone consultation, e-mail us with your contact information, description of the matter involved and several dates and times which are convenient for you.  Our office will then contact you to obtain credit card or other payment information and to confirm your appointment at one of your preferred times or the closest time available.  

Q: How do I retain your firm?  

If you decide to hire our law firm to handle your case, we will send you an engagement letter that outlines the scope of the representation, the advance deposit amount required to start work, hourly fee rate for the case, and estimated time to complete the work (if a reasonably accurate estimate is possible), and what your responsibilities will be under the engagement. 

Q: What is the advance deposit?  Why do you require it?   

For clients without an established history with our firm, we typically require some amount of the estimated legal fees and costs to work on your case to be paid in advance.  Think of the advance deposit as something similar to a security deposit.  It helps us manage the possible risk of nonpayment for services, without requiring the client to pay for the entire amount of projected fees and costs up front. 

Q: Does the firm take cases on a contingency basis?   

Although there are some extremely rare exceptions, all or virtually all of the cases we handle are done on an advance fee or hourly basis and NOT on a contingency basis.
